Each year, between June and July, the Wild Coast comes alive as vast shoals of sardines migrate, attracting a stunning array of predators, including diving gannets, agile dolphins, and various species of sharks. Guests will join daily zodiac excursions, guided by the acrobatics of birds and dolphins, to pinpoint the sardine gatherings. Whether diving or snorkeling, each plunge into the water offers an up-close view of the intense predator-prey interactions and the remarkable natural spectacle. With only six guests per trip, participants can enjoy personalized attention and an intimate experience, choosing from either a 7-day or 14-day expedition. This unforgettable journey into one of natures greatest shows promises a deep dive into the vibrant and dynamic world of the ocean.
Marine Life to Photograph
The Sardine Run offers a spectacular opportunity to photograph a wide array of marine life in action. As massive sardine shoals migrate along the Wild Coast, they attract a variety of predators, creating dramatic scenes perfect for photography. Keen-eyed gannets dive from above, piercing the water's surface with precision to catch their prey. Dolphins, known for their agility and intelligence, work together to herd sardines into tight bait balls, making for stunning underwater shots. Sharks, including bronze whalers and blacktips, can be seen gliding through the water, ready to capitalize on the chaos. Additionally, the occasional appearance of Brydes whales adds another layer of excitement, as these massive creatures feed on the sardine shoals.
